This week I’m focusing on a classic medical strain here in Southern California for the Sativa lovers, the ones who like the upbeat, more energetic and cerebral strains of herb… this one is for you – Trainwreck.

This strain has an aroma that’s as notable as it’s name. The smell is so distinct that it’s one of the few strains that even my medicore sense of smell can identify immediately… I call it a “medicinal smell” – like strong lemon-lime cleaner, but in a good way.

I have always found the effect is very upbeat and active, and at one time (Summer of 2008) it was my herb-of-choice.

Here’s some information about Trainwreck

Very much renowned for its potency. It is said to contain an incredible amount of THC. The smell is already strong, and when you squeeze it the smell makes your eyes water. The weed is easily ground up, and a little too sticky for breaking up by hand. Trainwreck has a unique smell that it hard to describe. It’s like Kush, and Skunk, but with a sweet tang to it, like freshly cut cedar.

It lights up fast, and burns slightly quicker than you would prefer, and gives you an extremely thick hit. Almost always a cougher. The name trainwreck come from the fact that when you smoke this weed your face feels like it was hit by a train. It’s a very powerful Sativa.

This week I get to share with you another classic strain, but one I’ve never had a chance to try until now – Pre ’98 Bubba Kush.

This strain is a 100% Indica that is produces dense buds that have a exquisite kush smell that is immediately recognizable as a Bubba Kush strain. I smoked some before working on photos last night and really enjoyed what I considered to be a very “clean” high.

Special Notice – Ounce Special!

March 3, 2010 – $350 an ounce while supplies last!

Information

Pre ’98 Bubba Kush is a 100% Indica. The plant is pretty popular amongst amateur growers, because it’s such a resilient strain. It’s hard to screw it up. It’s a very dense weed, tough to break apart. There are a bunch of crystals, and they’ll be all over your fingers after you struggle to break the nug apart.

The taste and smell provide an interesting contrast. The smell is deep and earthy hash, like most indicas but not as pungent. The taste is somewhat lighter, it’s has hints of sweetness. It’s earthy too but not dirty tasting.

The high is heavy. This is a great bud for anyone who’s trying to get some sleep. A bowl will put you out of commision for a while so this isn’t a day time smoke. It’s not the kind of high you want to discover in public situations. This is a very dense bud, it’ll numb you out.

and more information…

This plant is my all-time favorite Indica, hands down. She was given to me years ago, by a good friend who has amassed an amazing collection of fine genetics.

This is one of those plants that is hard to screw up. If you give it the nutes she wants, she’ll produce ultra-sticky, dense and very dank nugs. This plant however, is on the smaller side of yields (as most Kushes are). She loves to be topped, but will typically send one branch taller than the others making a natural cola of sorts. Dried Bubba nugs will often be so dense, its hard to break them apart. Since she does yield less than some plants, this is a good trade. More dank, less leaf (although even the leaf is covered in trichomes).

This is one plant that is good for insomnia. One or two bowls of good, primo Bubba will send even the crackiest of crackheads into a deep coma for a few hours. She packs on trichomes until the is no more room it seems, then it packs on a few more. It has the ability of being better than most herb, even when pulled a bit early (if you don’t want to be lethargic 24/7). She stimulates hunger in patients very well, as well as relieves eye pressure greatly in Glaucoma patients. Pain Relief is also a trait that is found in Bubba. She makes people numb.

Some folks say that the plant loses something by letting it go past 65. That the flavor changes slightly, losing some of the sweetness, however, this comes with the benefit of amber trichomes. At this stage, Bubba will kick a hole in your face and tell you to shut up. It is that damn good. I’ve even had friends who stated they didn’t like kushes say that Bubba was the best Indica they had ever smoked, hands down.
